Position Details/Duties:
- Analyze the content of health records to ensure complete and appropriate documentation that complies with policies.
- Analyzes, organizes, and enters paper documents into the electronic medical record
- Conducts focused audits of information in the EMR according to established procedure
- Process requests for patient information. Apply the release of information policy when answering all requests and protect the confidentiality and security of all medical records for the benefit of the patient, hospital, and care providers.
- Provide clerical assistance through answering incoming telephone calls and greeting visitors to ensure quality customer service.
- Facilitates sharing of information.
- Employee is responsible for all other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.
Position Requirements:
Education:
- High School education or equivalent required.
- Associates Degree in Health Information Management preferred.
- Medical Terminology course preferred
Experience:
- Basic understanding of HIPAA and PHI required
- Understanding of medical record principals and procedures required
- Experience with batch scanning technology preferred
- Experience with spreadsheet and database software preferred
- One year experience in a healthcare setting preferred
Physical:
- This position is classified as Light Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (66% of the time) to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work.
