Responsibilities

 

 

The Medical Records Technician:

  • Receives, processes, cleans, and sorts incoming mail from: UPS, FedEx, USPS, or other carriers
  • Collects, maintains, and makes available to authorized users timely, accurate, secure and complete patient health information
  • Provides authorized individuals with timely access to patient information without compromising the security of patient records
  • Reviews returned patient records for completeness
  • Ensures minimum necessary protected health information is used only for purposes identified or as required by law and not further disclosed without patient authorization
  • Logs all mail into separate spreadsheets pertaining to each individual project
  • Identifies and correctly distributes parcels and documentation
  • Maintains a neat, organized work area
  • Attends required education and training programs
  • Complies with departmental policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the MRT Scanning Lead and Medical Records Request Manager

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • High Schoold Diploma, GED, or equivalent related experience
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state
    of employment
  • 0 - 5 years of experience

 

  

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • At least six (6) months of medical record experience
  • Knowledge of personal computer systems including MS Word and MS Excel
  • Familiarity with department-required equipment (computers, copiers, fax machines, scanners)
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail 

 

Physical Requirements:

 

This position requires the ability to perform the below essential functions:

  • Ability to lift and move boxes repetitively weighing up to 50 pounds
